Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson has just released his blueprint for financial reform. Two things are very disturbing about this proposal. First, it gives the Feds increased authority to regulate a limited number of institutions that are already regulated but not the cause of today’s economic crisis. Secondly, all the proposals require the approval of Congress – a body that did not even read the Patriot Act before passing it into law is going to read and understand the economic mumbo-jumbo of the Feds?
Woe-begone to us when it’s Congress and the Feds watching the henhouse.

I would like to sign up for this European vacation; for the 2nd half of June 2008, when the 49. European Bridge Teams Championship is to be held in Pau/France?
"WORRY-FREE and ECONOMICALLY-FRUGAL" parts are just too attractive for a bridge player. And what if I sign only for the duplicate (skipping Form SR, I mean)? Noo, I just noticed that it is only a teams event!
Okan: The only pre-condition in accepting you for the vacation package is for you to play in a side Pairs Game at the European Championship with Dave Westfall as your partner. It will be a learning experience for you to sit across the table from him. The last time I partnered Dave was in a side pairs game at the 2007 summer bridge nationals in Nashville. Every contract that we declared was in violation of THE LAW – not the Law of Total Tricks, but Burn’s Law of Total Trumps – the opponents always had more trumps than us when we were declaring contracts. Nevertheless, we still managed to finish in second place.
